Kimberly Gottschalk is the first person to tell you she is not perfect, but it is her title now.
The 18-year-old Ellis resident has been crowned “Kansas Sunflower’s Perfect Teen 2012” and she’ll compete for the national title in Orlando, Florida.
In between media interviews, parades and personal appearances this summer, Gottschalk is also raising money for her trip to the national competition, which starts August 9, her 19th birthday.
With help from family, she’s bringing a portable concession stand to many area events. Much of the German food for sale is homemade by her grandmothers, aunt, mom, and even Kimberly herself. She says bierocks are her favorite, now that she’s using her grandma’s recipe.
Gottschalk has another talent. She’s been accepted into the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles and will transfer there from Kansas State University in January.
