Several members of the group Friends of the Hays Dog Park attended Thursday night’s city commission meeting to propose the city set aside land east of the sports complex for a dog park. Parks Director Jeff Boyle says the nearly six acres is an ideal location.

The cost to establish the park is estimated at $50,000 to $75,000, which will be funded by the group. The commission will vote next week.
