FHSU Wind Turbines OK’ed by Joint Planning Commission

A conditional-use permit is approved for two wind turbines that would provide energy for Fort Hays State University.

The Ellis County Joint Planning Commission gave unanimous approval during a public hearing Wednesday night.  The permit must still be approved by the Ellis County Commission.

The two 670-foot tall wind turbines would be placed on property owned by Brian J. Staab, about 3 and half miles south of campus, and supply 97% of the university’s electrical needs.
