Investigators are unable to determine the cause of the July 20th fire that destroyed a downtown Hays home.

The state fire marshal’s office has determined the blaze started in an enclosed area on the north side of the house, located at 105 E. 15th Street.

The fire at the house owned by Henry and Michelle Wiesner was reported shortly after 7 p.m. and already heavily involved.

No one was in the residence, just a block from the Hays Fire Station, when the fire started.
