Hurricanes Swimmers Compete at Division I Swim Meet

Hays Swimmers Isaac Smith (age 10) and Megan Flavin (age 10) competed in the Missouri Valley Division I Championship Swim Meet in Lawrence, KS on July 27-29.  Swimmers must meet qualifying time standards to compete in this meet.
Flavin’s results are as follows:

  • 50 freestyle in 39.27 seconds for 38th place
Flavin is the daughter of Jeff and Amy Flavin.  She is coached by Hurricanes Coach, Noland Forsythe.
Smith’s results are as follows:

  • 50 breaststroke in 43.58 for 2nd place
  • 50 backstroke in 45.97 for 22nd place
  • 100 butterfly in 1:39.0 for 9th place
  • 50 freestyle in 35.37 for 8th place
  • 200 IM in 3:22.08 for 11th place
  • 100 freestyle in 1:20.99 for 12th place
  • 100 breaststroke in 1:39.82 for 3rd place
  • 50 butterfly in 43.27 for 13th place
In addition, Smith qualified for the Central Zone 14 & Under Age Group Championship Meet to be held August 3-5 in Columbus, Indiana.  In addition, to other Missouri Valley swimmers, Smith will compete against swimmers from the following areas:  Arkansas, Indiana, Lake Erie, Midwestern, and Oklahoma.  Smith is 1 of only 2 swimmers from Western Kansas to qualify and compete at the meet.

Smith is the son of Brad and Michelle Smith.  He is coached by Hurricanes Coach, Morgan Hagerman.
