The Hays Larks run at an elusive NBC World Series title will have to wait another year. The Larks, who won six-straight games in the losers bracket following an opening round loss to the Greeley (CO) Grays, were eliminated by the Seattle (WA) Studs 6-2 in Friday night’s semifinals.
The Larks finish the tournament 6-2 and brings home a third-place trophy, their highest finish since a second-place finish in 2007. They finish the season 35-13.

Seattle scored in the first following a leadoff walk, stolen base, groundout and sacrifice fly. They would add two unearned runs on the third to go up 3-0. They added another run in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.
The Larks scored in the sixth after Austin Darby walked with one out, stole second then scored on Adam Humes two-0ut single.
Mackenzie Handel doubled to start the eighth and scored on Jon Ryan’s two-out pinch-hit single.
Aaron Breit takes the loss, allowing three runs (one earned ) on four hits over 2 2/3 innings.
Aaron Cornell and Austin Darby both had two hits games. Cornell ends with a tournament-high 15. Darby drove in a tourney-high seven runs.
