W. Velma Weigel
Munjor, Kansas – W. Velma Weigel, age 85, died Friday, August 17, 2012, at her home in Munjor, Kansas.
She was born June 2, 1927, on the farm near Vincent, Kansas, to Henry and Lidwina (Wittman) VonLintel. She married Albinus A. Weigel on August 19, 1946, in Victoria, Kansas. He died April 3, 2008.
She was raised in Walker and Victoria and attended grade school in Victoria, Kansas. She moved to Hays, Kansas in 1947. She and her husband owned and operated Weigel Oil Company and the Beer Garden on East Hwy 40 in Hays, Kansas. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Hays, Kansas, and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Munjor, Kansas.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Billinger and husband, Robert, and Sandy Brungardt and husband, Wayne, both of Hays, KS; Linda Gross and husband, Leslie, Munjor, KS; nine grandchildren, Scott and Dawn Billinger; Lynette Callahan and husband, Tom, Len Gross and wife, Patricia, LaNae Lang and husband, Greg, LaShana Hunt and husband,Troy; Chad Brungardt and wife, Kym, Amy Brungardt, Matthew Brungardt and wife, Lindsay; 13 great grandchildren, Hannah and Sean Callahan; Dallas and Olivia Hunt; Halle, Ethan and Mia Lang; Michael, Patelynn and Emily Gross; Tate, Kaylee and Quinton Brungardt; step- sister, Teckla Hammerschmidt, Ellinwood, KS; step-sister-in-law, Rita Graf-Dreiling, Russell, KS; two sisters-in-law, Viola Weigl, Gorham, KS; Joan Weigel and friend, Ron Arneson, Hays, KS; brother-in-law, Eugene Weigel and wife, Arlene, Gorham, KS.
She was preceded in death by, her parents; husband; infant son and infant daughter, Joseph and Mary Weigel; step-father, Alex P. Graf; one brother, Ralph VonLintel; one sister, Alice Braun; four step-brothers, Adolph, Bill, Felix and Clarence Graf; two step-sisters, Sophie Jacobs and Christine Begons.
Services are at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 20, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Munjor, Kansas. Burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery,Victoria, Kansas.
A vigil service is at 6:30 P.M. Sunday, followed by a Christian Mothers rosary at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd, Hays, Kansas 67601.
Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday and from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. Monday all at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays. Memorials to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or Thomas More Prep-Marian. Condolences can be sent via e-mail to [email protected].
