1.05″ of Rain Last Night… More Rain Expected Tonight

As the first round of heavy rain and thunderstorms moves out of the region early this morning…another round of thunderstorm activity is expected to develop late in the afternoon.

The most likely area for the initial late afternoon thunderstorm development will be west of Highway 83 to the Colorado border…close to the mid level low that will be approaching western Kansas. Another organized thunderstorm complex may develop and mature over southwestern and west-central Kansas late tonight. While widespread severe weather is not expected… a few of the strongest storms may produce gusty winds to 60 mph and up to quarter-size hail.

Heavy rain will once again be the main element of interest with the thunderstorms given the abundant low level moisture in place. The upper low and trough axis responsible for all the rain will be moving east Saturday with drying expected from west to east during the day.
