One Killed, Six Injured In Crash Near Colby

An Oakley man was killed and six others were injured in a rollover accident on Thomas County Road 23 and AA Road (4 miles East of K25) shortly before 11:30 pm Friday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 7 people in a 99 Ford Pickup were traveling southbound on Thomas County Road 23 when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The pickup went westbound and took the south bound ditch sideways, then rolled two and a half times ejecting four of the seven passengers.

The driver, 21-year-old Jance H. Kruse, was transported to Thomas County Hospital where he later died.

18-year-old Jade S. Kruse, 22-year-old Lane Smith, and 22-year-old Jacob Laird were transported to Thomas County Hospital with injuries. Their conditions were not immediately known.

17-year-old Rachael Keefe, 21-year-old Matthew Locker, and 18-year-old Kyle Gowen were flown to Swedish Med Cener in Denver with serious injuries. Their conditions were not available.
