Both the Hays High and TMP-Marian soccer teams win their openers at the McPherson Invitational Monday. The Monarchs defeated Maize South 4-2 on goals from Robert Niyonsaba, Carlos Duenes, Lane Fisher and Rodney Dues.

Hays High rolled past Independence 11-1, scoring seven goals in the first half. A big day for Jordan Windholz who scored six goals, four in the first half. Hays also got two goals from Kellen Griffin and Shaen Herman and one from Lane Clark.

The Indians and Monarchs will now face each other in the semifinals tomorrow at four o’clock.
