Hays firefighters put their training to use over the weekend, responding to two accidents.

Fire, Police and Ellis County EMS responded to an injury accident Saturday afternoon at 18th and Vine.

One victim was trapped and the firefighters used a hydraulic tool to extricate the person. Three people were injured in the two-vehicle crash. All were taken to HaysMed.

The accident happened around 4:25pm.

Later Saturday, the fire department responded to another accident in the 100 Block of West 34th Street. There were no injuries, but the vehicle had damaged a building.

More firefighters were called in to use the building collapse rescue equipment to prevent collapse or further damage to the structure.

That accident was reported at 8:14pm.
