FHSU Women’s Soccer Falls in 2 Overtimes

Fort Hays State women’s soccer allowed a goal six minutes into double overtime, falling 2-1 to Northeastern State on Sunday at DeLoache Field in Tahlequah, Okla. The Tigers dropped to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in the MIAA, while NSU moved to 9-2 and 4-2 in the MIAA.

NSU’s Renee Valcarcel scored the golden goal in the 106th minute. She knocked in a deflection on the right side of the goal.

The Tigers Ember Albertson sent the match to overtime, tying the score at 1-1 in the 69th minute. Albertson put in a flip throw in from Alexis Aiman that bounced over two players to Albertson.

The Riverhawks took the early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute as Emily Voges scored off a rebound that deflected of the left post.

Rachael Schaad went the whole way in goal for FHSU, making eight saves and allowing two goals.

FHSU returns home for two matches. The Tigers take on Missouri Western on Thursday at 6 p.m. then clashes with Northwest Missouri State on Saturday at 11 a.m.
