Ellis County has closed a bridge north of Ellis on Locust Grove after an inspection determined it was not safe. Tom Bennett with BG Consultants did the inspection and says the steel reinforcement has deteriorated.

Bennett says best case scenario the bridge can be repaired in about ten weeks at a cost ranging from $125,000 to $140,000. Public Works Administrator Mike Graf says there is money in the budget.

The county commission Monday night approved moving forward.
