Warm & Sunny Today, Severe Storms Possible Friday

This morning will begin with low clouds early, followed by mostly sunny skies for most of the day, as weak cold front moves south through Western Kansas.

Then as the southern border near Oklahoma heats up into the lower to mid 80s, the front will become stalled near the Kansas and Oklahoma border. This evening, there is a slight chance for strong to severe storms from near Liberal east to near Medicine Lodge. Large hail and lightning will be the primary hazards.

Then on Friday, a large upper system will approach from the west, and bring a round of severe storms to much of Southwestern Kansas Friday evening and Friday night. Golf ball hail, winds to 70 mph, lightning and heavy rain will be the main risks, but a few tornadoes will also be possible.
