The mission of Jana’s Campaign is to reduce domestic and dating violence. The organization was formed by the family and friends of Jana Mackey, a KU law student from Hays who was killed in 2008. Campaign President Curt Brungardt says domestic and dating violence is a community issue and prevention is the key.

Jana’s Campaign is kicking off a fundraising effort Saturday night. The “Empty Place at the Table” gala will feature special guest Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt. The campaign is trying to raise $100,000. More information is available at janascampaign.org.

On Tuesday a summit titled Confronting Violence in Our Communities will be held at Fort Hays State.
