A recent study on the transfer of wealth in Kansas shows that from 2010 to 2020 in Ellis County$800 million will transfer from one generation to the next.
Statewide a large portion of the $79 billion dollars that will transfer will move out of local communities and even out of the state. Kansas Association of Community Foundations Executive Director Svetlana Hutfles says charitable individuals should consider planning now to keep some of that wealth local.
Hutfles says community foundations like the Heartland Community Foundation in Ellis, Rooks and Trego counties is a flexible way to establish endowed funds to benefit a specific cause, program or project.
