Ellis County is having trouble finding mechanics. Public Works Administrator Mike Graf says there are two open positions after one mechanic left to take a job with the school district.

Graf says the county is having trouble competing with higher wage employers.

The county’s contracts are negotiated by the union, making changes to fill specific positions difficult. The county administrator agreed to talk to the union about the mechanic issue.
