Issues such as retaining alcoholic liquor taxes, revenue sharing and tax exemptions are all included in the statement of legislative priorities for the City of Hays. The city commission approved the statement Thursday night, and City Manager Toby Dougherty says the items at the top of the list deal with water.

Dougherty says many of the issues important to Hays are priorities for other Kansas communities as well. The city will use the statement to communicate its position with legislators.
