Northwestern Oklahoma State hit four free throws in the final 0:23 and beat the Fort Hays State Tigers 70-68 Saturday afternoon at Gross Coliseum. The loss is the first of the season for the Tigers who drop to 2-1 and is the Rangers first win as they improve to 1-2.

The Rangers used an 11-0 run to build an eight-point lead with 11:12 to play and would lead lead by eight with under 10 minutes to play before a 12-3 Tiger run put them back on top. Ben Conguista capped the run hitting a 3-pointer then scoring on a layup.

A Dwayne Dwayne Brunson tip-in put FHSU up 68-66 with 0:48 but the Rangers score the final four points for their first win over the Tigers since the 1972-73 season.

Brunson led FHSU with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Ben Conguista added 15 and Lance Russell 13.
