Freshman forward Jordan Hester garnered Daktronics NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer All-Central Region honors, announced Monday (Nov. 19). Hester was the only Fort Hays State women’s soccer student-athlete to earn All-Region honors.
The Olathe, Kan. native landed on the All-Central Region Second Team, and was one of only two freshmen to earn All-Region. Hester, who was All-MIAA Honorable Mention, scored a team-high 10 goals for FHSU, which was second most in the MIAA. She added four assists to total a team-high 24 points. The freshman started 20 of the 22 matches at forward and led the team with four game-winning goals; highlighted by the game-winning goal in the 2-1 MIAA Tournament Semifinals win over Central Oklahoma. The Tigers went on to win the MIAA Tournament Championship, their first conference championship in the program’s two year history.
Nicole Dooher of Minnesota State-Mankata was named the Daktronics Central Region Player of the Year after being named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Year. Minnesota State-Mankata led the All-Region team with five first-team selections.
The Tigers went 14-7-1 this season and won the MIAA Tournament Championship. FHSU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program’s short two year history.
