The Ellis Industrial Development Corporation will concede to the county some of the land around the former Ellis shop building for storage of materials if the county will hand over the building. Meanwhile the corporation will look for another piece of land for the county to use for storage.

The EIDC has a business that wants to take possession and rehab the building. County Commissioner Swede Holmgren says it will be EIDC’s responsibility to make sure the historic nature of the building is maintained.

Business owner Chad Sproul wants to get in before the winter weather to start cleaning and repairing the roof. To deal with liability until the transfer is official, the county has agreed to lease the building to the EIDC for one dollar contingent on the county’s counselor signing off on the plan. The EIDC would then allow Sproul access to the building.
