Fort Hays State hit six free throws in the final minute to hold off Central Missouri 77-72 in the MIAA opener for both Wednesday night at Gross Coliseum. It’s the Tigers second straight win which moves them to 4-2 on the season. Central Missouri falls to 4-2.
Craig Nicholson, who scored a game-high 22 points hit two free throws with :35 to play to push the Tiger lead to four. Lance Russell added four free throws down the stretch to help the Tigers close it out.
Fort Hays State shot 50-percent from the floor for the third straight game including 8-of-19 from 3-point range. The Tigers outrebound the Mules 33-9 and allowed only four offensive boards.
Ben Conqiusta hit four 3’s and scored 14, Lance Russell added 12.
