The Ellis Industrial Development Corporation will be granted the former Ellis County shop building. No one attended Monday night’s meeting to speak out against the property transfer.

Commissioner Swede Holmgren says the EIDC stepped up to take responsibility of the building, which will take a significant investment to rehab.

The EIDC is turning the building over to a business that has already started cleaning up the property.

Members of the community have expressed their desire for the railroad history to be maintained. It is believed the building was used for repair of the train cars.
