The Hays Police Department conducted 40 traffic stops and received 17 animal calls over the weekend, according to the Police Activity Log.

Theft: The Hays Police Department investigated five thefts reports over the weekend. The first two thefts were reported in the 1000 block of East 37th Street on Friday afternoon. The first theft was reported at 2:46 p.m. and the second theft allegedly occurred between 8:00 a.m. on December 14th and December 21st at 3:00 p.m. Officers responded to the 4300 block of Vine Street, at 3:49 Saturday afternoon, to investigate a report of shoplifting. Officers investigated a second shoplifting report, at the same location, on Sunday afternoon between 1:10 and 1:24 a.m. The last theft, reported over the weekend, was reported in the 1300 block of East 33rd Street at 10:42 Sunday morning.

Driving Under the Influence: Officers conducted four driving under the influence stops on Saturday. The first stop was conducted in the 300 block of East 8th Street at 1:45 Saturday morning. The second stop was conducted in the 1200 block of Vine Street at 2:08 a.m. The third DUI stop was conducted at 2:09 a.m. Saturday, in the 200 block of West 10th Street. Officers investigated drug related offenses in connection with the traffic stop. The final stop was conducted in the 300 block of Main Street at 10:45 Saturday night.

Drug Offenses: Hays PD investigated two drug related offenses over the weekend. The first was in the 200 block of West 10th Street at 2:09 a.m. Saturday. The second drug offenses was reported at 41st and Vine Street at 9:15 Sunday morning.

Battery: Hays Police Officers responded to the 200 block of West 10th Street to investigate a simple battery case in the early morning hours Sunday. The alleged battery occurred between 1:45 and 2:43 Sunday morning.

Civil Dispute: The Hays Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Haney Drive Friday afternoon for the report of a civil dispute. The alleged incident occurred at 4:06 Friday afternoon.

Domestic Disturbance: Officers investigated a report of a domestic disturbance on Saturday evening in the 500 block of East 14th Street. The alleged disturbance occurred between 11:00 and 11:18 p.m. Saturday.

Motor Vehicle Accidents: The Hays Police Department responded to six motor vehicle accidents between Friday and Sunday. Four of the accidents were reported as involving private property and one of those was a hit and run. The hit and run accident was reported in the 4300 block of West Vine street on Saturday afternoon. The alleged accident occurred between 1:00 and 1:58 p.m. Saturday.
