Weekend Police Activity Log

The Hays Police Department conducted 46 traffic stops and received 15 animal calls Friday through Sunday, according to the Police Activity Log.

Theft: Hays Police Officers investigated four thefts reported between Friday morning and Sunday night. The first theft was reported in the 2200 block of Canterbury Drive at 9:41 a.m. Friday. Officers investigated a NCIC hit in connection with the theft report. A report of shoplifting was reported to the Hays PD at 11:17 p.m. Friday evening. The alleged theft occurred between 11:00 and 11:17 p.m. Saturday morning officers investigated a theft reported in the 1000 block of West 28th Street. The alleged theft occurred between 1:30 Friday evening and 8:45 Saturday morning. The final theft was reported on Sunday in the 2300 block of Lincoln Drive at 12:00 a.m.

Domestic Disturbance: The Hays PD responded to seven disturbance reports over the weekend. Four of the seven reports were for domestic disturbances. The first domestic disturbance was reported in the 1700 block of Volga Drive at 12:33 a.m. Saturday. The Hays PD received a 911 hangup call at 1:04 Saturday morning. Officers investigated a domestic disturbance in connection with the hangup call. Another domestic disturbance was reported at 1:45 Saturday afternoon in the 700 block of East 6th Street. The final domestic disturbance report came from the 300 block of East 7th at 11:49 p.m.

Fight: The final three disturbance reports over the weekend were all fights reported in the early morning hours Sunday. The first fight in connection with a disturbance report was in the 100 block of West 7th Street at 1:53 a.m. The second fight was reported at 12th and Tamarac Cirle at 3:08 a.m. and the final fight was reported in the 500 block of East 20th Street at 4:09 Sunday morning. Officers investigated a domestic disturbance and battery in connection with the disturbance report.

Driving Under the Influence: The Hays Police Department conducted six DUI related traffic stops from Friday morning through Sunday night. The first traffic stop was conducted in the 800 block of Ash Street at 1:58 a.m. Saturday. The second DUI stop was conducted in the 200 block of East 8th Street at 2:06 a.m. Saturday. Officers conducted a DUI in the 800 block of Fort Street Sunday morning at 12:21. Officers also investigated drug offenses along with the traffic stop.

Officers conducted three DUI stops on Sunday morning. The first was in the 200 block of West 10th Street at 12:44 a.m. The second DUI stop was conducted in the 100 block of East 7th Street at 1:12 a.m. and the final DUI stop was conducted in the 2600 block of Indian Trail at 1:26 Sunday morning.

Motor Vehicle Accidents: Hays Police Officers responded to five motor vehicle accidents between Friday morning and Sunday evening. Three of the accidents were reported as hit and run accidents. The first hit and run accident was reported in the 100 block of West 12th Street at 9:20 a.m. Friday. Officers also investigated the driver for driving under the influence. The second hit and run accident was reported in the 500 block of West 14th Street at 9:12 p.m. Officers also investigated the driver for driving under the influence. The last hit and run accident was reported in the 1000 block of Vine Street at 6:16 p.m. Saturday.

Criminal Damage to Property: There were three reports of criminal damage to property reported to the Hays Police Department over the weekend. The first incident was reported at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, in the 400 block of West 10th Street. The alleged burglary of a vehicle and criminal damage to property occurred between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded to the report of suspicious activity in connection with a report of criminal damage to property, in the 200 block of West 20th Street at 7:24 Sunday morning. Damage to property was also reported in the 1600 block of Ash Street at 12:58 Sunday afternoon.
