No. 10 Lady Tigers Suffer First Loss of the Season

The No. 10 Fort Hays State Lady Tigers could ‘t overcome 29-percent shooting as they lose for the first time this season, 54-44 at Northeastern State Thursday in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The loss drops FHSU to 10-1 and 2-1 in the MIAA while the River Haws improve to 7-4 and 2-1 in the conference.

The Lady Tigers hit just three of their 21 three-point attempts and just 1-for-11 in the second half.

Northeastern State used a 7-0 run to go up 11 with 8:53 to play. The Lady Tigers answered with an 8-0 run to pull within three but the River Hawks hit back-to-back 3-pointers and pushed the lead to 10 with 4:11 to play. FHSU would only get as close seven the rest of the way.

Highlights 1-3-13

The Lady Tigers scored just one field goal in the first seven minutes and trailed by five three different times in the first half. Their only first half lead came on a Kaiameka Brown baseline jumper that made it 2-0.

Kate Edwards was the only Lady Tiger to reach double-figures with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
