Obituary- January 12, 2013

Hays, Kansas – Melinda M. (Dinkel) Griebel, age 83, died Friday, January 11, 2013, at her home in Hays, Kansas.
She was born April 19, 1929, in Victoria, Kansas, to Frank M. and Rosa (Hertel) Dinkel. She married Paul Richard Griebel on April 21, 1952, in Victoria, Kansas.

She grew up on a homestead in Victoria, Kansas, with 14 brothers and sisters. She was a 1948 graduate of Victoria High School. They resided in Rooks County until 1955. They moved to a farm outside of Collyer, KS. She was a housewife and loving mother raising 11 children. She was a 2nd Grade catechism teacher for the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Collyer for many years. She was an active member of the Altar Society at St. Michaels Catholic Church. She was a sewing, cooking, and crochet leader for the Collyer Go-Getters 4-H Club. Paul and Melinda managed a dairy farm in Collyer for over 33 years. They retired and moved to Hays, Kansas, in 1988. They have enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Paul and Melinda celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past April with family and friends. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays, KS.

Survivors include her husband, Paul R. Griebel, of the home; seven sons, Francis Griebel and wife, Becky, Lexington, KY; Steve Griebel and wife, Jennifer, Collyer, KS; Robert Griebel, Collyer, KS; Roger Griebel and wife, Robin, Hays, KS; Wayne Griebel and wife, Darla, Amarillo, TX; Bill Griebel, Collyer, KS; Joe Griebel, Hays, KS; four daughters, Linda Schroeder and husband Keith, Hutchinson, KS; Marilyn Rebori and husband Timothy, Olathe, KS; Mary Adams and husband Tim, Quinlan, TX; Paula Kruse and husband Shannon, Topeka, KS; ten grandchildren, Randi Griebel, Craig Griebel, Vanessa Schroeder, Ann Griebel, James Adams, Megan Griebel, Greg Adams, Austin Kruse, Leyton Rebori, and Justin Kruse; two brothers, George Dinkel and wife, Mary Ann, Father Harvey Dinkel O.F.M. Cap., both of Victoria, KS; five sisters, Sister Francis Rose Dinkel C.S.A., Fon Du Lac, WI; Irene Scruggs, Manhattan, KS; Mary Younker and husband, Walter, Antonio, KS; Viola Richmeier, Grinnell, KS; Sister Paul Ann Dinkel, C.S.A., Hays, KS; one brother-in-law, Delbert Rohr, Wichita, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Hilarius, Clarence, Edward Dinkel; four sisters, Julitta Dechant, Bertha Prewo, Regina Dechant and Rita Rohr.

Services are 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 14, 2013, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas. Visitation is from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday, and from 8:30 to 9:45 A.M. Monday, all at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas, 67601. A vigil service is at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays. Memorial to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas.
