The Rural Communities Support program sponsored by Monsanto Company has awarded $2,500 to the Ellis County Rural Fire Department.

The program allows farmers in Ellis and Rush counties to provide funding for their favorite nonprofit organizations. Midland Marketing Coop assists Monsanto in selecting the recipients.

Rural Fire Chief Dick Klaus says the funds will be used for training expenses at the upcoming RegionalFireSchool.

Other area organizations receiving funds are the Rush County Rural Fire District #7 and a Rooks County nonprofit group, who will be announced soon.
