The goal for the 2012 Campaign for the United Way of Ellis County  was $475,000, and with a large donation from HaysMed, that goal has been surpassed. Campaign Chair Derek Gerstner says the campaign has raised nearly $500,000.

HaysMed contributed $69,000, most of which was donated by the associates. A check presentation was made Wednesday morning to signal the close of the campaign.

The funds will help support 14 United Way allocated agencies in Ellis County.
