The Hays High Indians were never pushed in a 70-19 win over Burlington, Colorado in the first round of the Orange and Black Classic in Colby. The Indians used an 8-0 nothing run to start the game. Burlington scored their only points of the first quarter on a three pointer, followed by a 14-0 run to close the first quarter giving Hays a 22-3 lead.
Hays outscored Burlington 21-8, 14-3 and 13-5 over the next three quarters. The fourth quarter was a continuous clock.
Kade Parker scored a career high 12 while leading three Indians in double figures. Derek Bixenman and Brady Werth each scored 11.
The Indians shot 45% from the floor while holding Burlington to 7 of 36 for the game. The Indians turned the ball over 8 times forcing 31.
Hays will play either McCook, Nebraska or Colby in the semi-finals Friday night at 8:15 in the Colby Community Building.
