In their review and approval of next year’s course guide for Hays High School, the USD 489 Board of Education decided Monday night to eliminate course fees.

Superintendent Will Roth says these fees sometimes forced students not to take certain courses, and the board didn’t think that was appropriate for public education.

Fees for textbooks and courses that require special projects such as woodworking will still be in place.
