The Fort Hays State Tigers couldn’t overcome a bad shooting first half and fall to Lindenwood 69-58 Thursday night in St. Charles, Mo. The loss is the second straight for the Tigers who fall to 10-6 and 4-4 in the MIAA. Lindenwood improves to 12-4 and 5-3 in the conference.
The Tigers hit just one of their first nine shots to start the game and connected on just 23-percent in the first half. They trailed early by 13 before going on a 8-0 to pull within four. The Lions, who are in their first year in the MIAA, closed the half on a 15-4 run to lead by 15 at the half.
They were down 17 early in the second half before mounting a 10-0 run to pull within seven. Lindenwood answered by scoring the next seven. The Tigers got it back to seven points late but could never get any closer.
Ben Congiusta led the Tigers with 16 points, Craig Nicholson added 11 and Nick Capiti 10. The Tigers shoot 37-percent for the game and 5-of-16 from 3-point range.
