The Fort Hays State Tigers built a 12-point second half lead then held off a comeback bid by the Bulldogs in a 74-68 win in Kirksville. It’s the Tigers sixth-straight win at Truman and improves their record to 11-6 overall and -4 in the MIAA. Truman drops to 7-11 and 4-6 in the conference.
The Tigers never trailed, leading by 10 in the first half. The Bulldogs closed the half on a 7-2 run to pull within Five at the half. Truman hit a 3-pointer to open the second half but could never get any closer the rest of way.
The Tigers, who shot 52-percent from the floor, were led by freshman Craig Nicholson who scored 18 points, hitting all eight of his free throws in the second half. He also dished out nine assists with just two turnovers.Lance Russell scored 25, Ben Congiust, who needed stitches at halftime added 14 as did Dwayne Brunson
