Weekend Police Activity Report

The Hays Police Department conducted 59 traffic stops and received 15 animal calls between Friday morning and Sunday night, according to the Police Activity Log.

Rape: The Hays Police Department investigated two rape cases over the weekend. The first rape was reported in the 2900 block of Canal Boulevard at 4:47 Saturday morning. The second rape was reported in the 800 block of Elm Street Sunday morning at 3:06.

Theft: Officers of the Hays Police Department investigated five theft reported between Friday and Sunday. The first theft was a report of shoplifting in the 4300 block of Vine Street Friday evening between 7:25 and 7:28. The second theft report was in connection with a report of found or lost property in the 200 block of West 10th Street. The alleged theft occurred at 2:27 a.m. Sunday. A third theft was reported on Sunday morning at 5:51 in the the 800 block of Elm Street. The fourth theft reported to the Hays Police Department was reported in the 1000 block of East 15th Street at 10:49 Sunday morning. Officers investigated a false report in connection with the theft report. The final theft was reported in the 1000 block of East 13th Street. The alleged theft occurred at 3:07 Sunday morning.

Burglary: The Hays PD received the report of a burglary of a vehicle over the weekend in the 1100 block of Drum Avenue.

Civil Dispute: Officers responded to two report of civil dispute on Friday. The first civil dispute was reported in the 200 block of West 36th Street at 3:39 Friday afternoon. Officers also investigated a violation of restraining order in connection with the civil dispute report. The second civil dispute was reported in the 300 block of East 8th Street at 10:18 Friday evening.

Domestic Disturbance: The Hays Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance in the 700 block of West 12th Street early Sunday morning. Officers investigated the incident as a domestic disturbance at 3:29 a.m. Sunday.

Underage Possession: The Hays PD investigated three underage possession of cereal malt beverage or liquor on Sunday. The first case of underage possession of cereal malt beverage or liquor was reported in the 700 block of Ash Street at 12:23 a.m. The other reports of underage possession of cereal malt beverage or liquor were in the 200 block of West 10th Street. The first was reported at 12:57 a.m. and the second was reported at 1:09 a.m.

Driving Under the Influence: The Hays Police Department conducted six driving under the influence stops between Friday morning and Saturday evening. The first DUI stop was conducted in the 200 block of East 27th Street at 12:40 a.m. The second DUI stop was conducted in the 700 block of Fort Street at 2:14 a.m. The third DUI stop was conducted in the 700 block of Vine Street on Friday night at 11:53. Three of the DUI stops were conducted on Saturday. Officers conducted a DUI stop in the 700 block of Park Street at 12:38 a.m. Saturday. Another DUI stop was conducted, by the Hays PD, in the 100 block of 10th Street at 2:08 a.m. Saturday. The final DUI stop, conducted by the Hays Police Department, was reported in the 100 block of West 8th Street at 11:56 Saturday night.

Motor Vehicle Accidents: Hays Police Officers responded to five motor vehicle accidents between Friday morning and Sunday morning. Three of the accidents were reported as hit and run accidents. The first was reported in the 500 block of Milner Street at 9:15 Friday morning. The second hit and run accident was reported in the 370 block of Mopar Drive at 11:12 Friday morning. The final hit and run accident was reported in the 4000 block of Vine Street at 9:30 Saturday evening. Officers also responded to one personal injury accident at 33rd and Indian Trail at 9:43 Sunday morning.
