Craig Nicholson and Lance Russell combined to hit eight of nine free throws in the final minute and a half to lead the Fort Hays State Tigers to a 78-71 win over Central Oklahoma Thursday night at Gross Coliseum. The victory improves the Tigers to 12-6 overall and 6-4 in the MIAA. The Bronchos, who had won four straight road games, fall to 7-11 and 5-5 in the conference.

The Tigers opened the second half on a 15-6 run to grab an 11-point lead, but the Bronchos used some good free throw shooting and four-straight three’s down the stretch to pull within two before Nicholson hit six straight from the foul line.
Lance Russell led FHSU with 22 points, Dwayne Brunson added 18, Nicholson 12 along with 12 assists and Ben Congiusta 10 points.
