Fort Hays State University’s Department of Technology Studies is now the Institute of Applied Technology.

President Edward Hammond, during a news conference Friday, said the institute concept will include collaborations with two-year institutions, partnerships with corporations and the military and an expansion of the programs offered. This will provide a distinctive identity for technology education.

Interim Chair Kim Stewart says the Institute’s partnerships with two-year schools will make the transition to FHSU for further education easier.

The Institute will continue to be a part of the College of Education and Technology.
