Dolores “Toots” Schlyer
Hays, Kansas – Dolores “Toots” Schlyer, age 84, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at her home in Hays, Kansas.
She was born February 21, 1928, in Hays, Kansas, to Richard J. and Molly Mary (Eichman) Dreiling. She married Robert “Bob” Schlyer on September 3, 1947, in Hays, Kansas.
She was a homemaker, and worked as a District Secretary for the Ellis County Conservation District for 29 years and retired in 1988. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Christian Mothers both of Hays, Kansas. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, volunteering at Hays Medical Center Auxiliary and the Community Assistance Center. She loved her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Schlyer, of the home; two sons, Butch Schlyer and wife, Mary, Hays, KS; Skip Schlyer and wife Nancy, Hays, KS; three brothers, Donald Dreiling and wife, Dolores, Overland park, KS; Dean Dreiling and wife, Mickey, Corpus Christi, TX ; Gene Dreiling and wife, Flo, Tulsa, OK; one sister, JoAnn Jayjack, Fl; one sister-in-law, Donna Jean Dreiling, Hays, KS; seven grandchildren, Robin Krenzel (Troy), Amanda Ricketts (Mark), Bret Schlyer (Stacy), Jaime Cox (Brent), Kirby Schlyer, Heather Hamilton (Noah), Nick Schlyer; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Pamela Suzanne Diehl; three brothers,
Norbert Dreiling, James Dreiling, Thomas Dreiling; and one sister, Mary Catherine Bieker.
Services are 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 1, 2013, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 18th and Vine, Hays, Kansas. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.
A vigil service is at 6:30 P.M. Thursday, at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.
Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, and from 11:00 to 12:45 P.M. Friday, all at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays. Memorial to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
