The Hays Fire Department ran to McMindes Hall on the Fort Hays State University campus Thursday evening. The good news is that the alarm was not a student prank. The alarm was triggered due to food burning in a microwave.  Lindsey, who answered the phone at the front desk of the residence hall told Hays Post that she was not certain what floor had the smoking microwave. “We are just supposed to call 911 when a fire alarm sounds,” she said.  “The fire department usually re-sets the fire alarm.”  Hays Post was also told to check with the University’s Residential Life Office to learn how frequently fire alarms bring the fire department to campus.
