Four deaths are now blamed on the winter storm that’s moved from the Plains states over the Great Lakes.
The fatalities include a Kansas woman who died after her car collided with a train. Authorities told The Wichita Eagle that witnesses said her car began to slide before the accident.
The storm has lost some strength as it moves to the northeast — leaving a half foot or so of snow in some areas, freezing rain in others — and not the foot and a-half that’s on the ground in parts of Kansas.
Students across a large area of Kansas spent a second day at home today. Schools were also closed in parts of Missouri, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
