Update Fly Hays; Not Always

Great Lakes officials at Hays Regional Airport confirmed to Hays Post this morning that flights scheduled for Sunday will go as planned. The 8:55 a.m. flight is full.

That flight was delayed again due to circumstances in Denver, according to Great Lakes.

There are two afternoon flights on Sunday, 1:00 and 4:30 p.m.

Passengers at the airport on Saturday afternoon were not happy. They arrived and then were told the flights were cancelled.  Some passengers were reportedly told of airline mechanical problems. Tyler, who works for Great Lakes and answers their calls at Hays Regional Airport, told Hays Post  that “there were no mechanical problems on Saturday. We believed the runways would be cleared in time for the afternoon flights. They were not, so we had to cancel.”

City of Hays Public Work crews cleared runways on Saturday. “We try to call people and let them know the flights were cancelled,” said Tyler.  “We call as many as possible. Obviously the Saturday morning flight, it was not possible.”
