The water is back on at the Ellis County Law Enforcement Center. Just before 4 p.m. Sheriff Ed Harbin confirmed to Hays Post that the repairs to a broken water main were finished.
The Inmates were drinking bottled water and using Styrofoam plates at the jail today. A jailer discovered a water main break overnight. “We didn’t have to transfer any inmates and have made use of 5 gallon buckets.”
The break was in an area between the Law Enforcement Center and the Hays Public Library. Only the Law Enforcement Center was without water.
Kyle Sulzman, Assistant Director of Utilities with the City of Hay told Hays Post that his team was contacted about 2:30 a.m. Fixing the line is the responsibility of the county.
