Salina Police spoke to the media today concerning the death of an infant girl on Tuesday.
Lt. Sean Morton says the infant was under the age of one and had significant health issues. The child was taken to Salina Regional Health Center Monday before being transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Doctors called Wichita police after X-rays showed the baby had 13 broken bones in various stages of healing.
An autopsy is to be performed in Wichita. Morton says results to determine cause of death may take some time before being released.
Morton said the investigation is in the very early stages. Information on what part of town the infant lived was not released.
