The Kansas Department of Transportation did close I-70 during Saturday night’s storm. It was reopened early Sunday. The icy roads made travel very difficult. There were a lot of visitors in Hays for special events and law enforcement was very busy.
The Kansas Highway Patrol’s Todd Heilman told Hay Post, “We worked 5 non injury accidents in Ellis County during the weekend, another in Trego County and one in Thomas County. The good news is that only vehicles were damaged from sliding off the highway.
