Toby Keith was recently presented with several BMI Million-Air awards recognizing 15 million plays of his biggest hits including “How Do You Like Me Now?!,” “Beer for My Horses,” “I Love This Bar” and “Who’s Your Daddy?” Toby received the awards during a private presentation at a Nashville recording studio on Music Row.
BMI, formally known as Broadcast Music, Inc., keeps track of how many times songs are played on the radio, TV and in public places like bars and restaurants among other places to make sure songwriters get paid for the use of their music. Since Toby writes the majority of his hits, he is one of BMI’s most-played writers. Sir Paul McCartney, Dolly Parton and Roy Orbison are among the other BMI writers to receive the Million-Air award in the past.
Overall, Toby’s songs have been played 80 million times according to BMI’s records.
