Phillipsburg resident Ilene F. Coomes-Lebeda, age 73, died Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Colonial Villa in Alma, Nebraska.

She was born December 1, 1939 in Norton County, KS the daughter of Merle & Elsie (Douk) Shearer.  She worked at Coomes Trucking in Phillipsburg, Kansas.

She married Lyman O. Coomes on September 4, 1960 in Phillipsburg, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1988.  She then married Donald Lebeda on December 31, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son Rodney; daughter, Shayla & three grandchildren, Lindsay & Lucas Matal & Kelsey Altenbern.

Survivors include her husband, Don of the home; 4 sons, Rick of Kensington, Jeff of  Phillipsburg, Steve of Mobile, Alabama and Kevin of Phillipsburg; daughter, Sharon Spresser of Phillipsburg; a brother, Ron Shearer of Almena; sister, Wanda Jackson of Hill City; step children, Philip Lebeda of Thorton, CO and Whitney Altenbern of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 32 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating.  Burial will follow in the Plainview Cemetery, Phillips County, KS.

 

Ilene will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, with the family receiving friends Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Phillipsburg Little Kids Wrestling.
