At Monday night’s Ellis County Commission meeting, commissioners announced plans to hold a 10 a.m. meeting on Wednesday, April 10 to propose a change on the way the sales tax issue will appear on next month’s ballot.
Commissioner Dean Haselhorst encouraged the change. Commissioners said they had heard from many who say they will vote for the ½ cent sales tax but want a specific sunset clause. “The sales tax will expire upon repayment of the project financing or in five years, whichever comes first,” suggested Haselhorst.
