Kip Moore is a very hands-on artist in control of everything from the way his self-written songs sound on his album to the way his stage show comes off on the road. That control extends to the t-shirts and other items on sale at Kip’s concerts, but he admits being a part-time fashion designer for those merch items isn’t his cup of tea.
Says Kip, “I’m very in control of a lot of things, and the merch thing has been one thing that’s made me just want to pull my hair out. My forte is not drawing, you know what I mean?”
Kip works with people who design tour merchandise to come up with the t-shirt designs, but it’s a tough process for him.
“People turn in stuff to me, and I’m like, ‘No! No! That’s not it! That’s not it!” Kip explains. “But I don’t know what to do, and I don’t know what to tell ’em.”
Kip’s goal is to make his concert t-shirts look cool so people want to wear them all the time.
He says, “I’m trying to keep it simple. I don’t want to put my face on a big, gigantic shirt. I mean a big face on a shirt — I just don’t want to do that.”
Once Kip has decided on the t-shirt designs, he’s more than happy to get back to doing what he does best.
He adds, “I’d rather just stick to writing songs, man.”
