Will it ever end? The legal battle between Curb Records and Tim McGraw seems to be heating up again, with Curb filing a lawsuit against McGraw and his new record label, Big Machine Records, on Monday. The new suit is based on a claim from Curb that McGraw’s recently released album, Two Lanes of Freedom, belongs to Curb.
According to Nashville’s The City Paper, Curb claims the songs included on Two Lanes of Freedom were recorded while Tim was still an artist on Curb Records. The label is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. They’re also seeking an injunction to keep McGraw from recording for another label until he has fulfilled his contract with Curb. The label claims McGraw owes them one more studio album.
Curb and McGraw’s suits and countersuits against each other concerning his last album released on Curb, Emotional Traffic, seemed to be settled last year when a Nashville judge decided McGraw could record for another label. An appeal from Curb on that ruling was dismissed.
