Western Kansas Woman appointed to Sunflower Foundation Board of Trustees

Sunflower  FoundationKansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has announced the appointment of Andrea Krauss of Russell to the Sunflower Foundation Board of Trustees.

Krauss is secretary/treasurer of an oil and gas company that operates in central and western Kansas. She served 8½ years on the Russell County Hospital Board, including 3 years as chairman. Krauss has also served on the Russell Area Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Russell Rotary Club. Krauss lives on her family’s farm near Russell with her husband and daughter.

This will be Krauss’ first term on the Sunflower Foundation Board of Trustees. Schmidt has appointed her to a three-year term, which will expire in June 2016.

The Sunflower Foundation was formed in 2000 as part of a settlement between Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, the Kansas attorney general and the Kansas insurance commissioner. The foundation supports work to improve the health of Kansans through grant programs, awards and related activities. The nine-member Board of Trustees governs the foundation’s work and oversees the long-term goals of the foundation. Eight of the members are appointed by the attorney general, and one member is appointed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas.
