Famous Figures Competition was held for the first time this year at the Beach Schmidt Performing Arts Center. Twenty Eight students participated in today’s county finals and all Ellis County schools were involved.
The winner was Breonna North from Ellis as Jessica Tandy
2nd place Sage Goering from Wilson as Rosalind Franklin
3rd place Ashlyn Luetters from Lincoln as Alice Paul
4th Maddie Lohmeyer from Roosevelt as Julie Andrews
5th place tie Taylor Wiedenhaft Roosevelt as Charmayne James
and Landon Dinkel from Holy Family as Charlie Chaplin
6 A.M. The Hays Arts Council 2013 Famous Figures Finals for Ellis County 5th Grade students are this morning in the Beach/Schmidt performing Arts Center.
This project promotes creative thinking, research skills, writing, organization, leadership characteristics, memorization, public speaking – – AND features outstanding acting skills from these talented 9 & 10 year old students – 2 from each Ellis County 5th grade classroom who were selected as their school’s best!
This year, According to the Hays Arts Council Face Book page, “you can spend time with Princess Diana, Jackie Stiles, Gen. Robert E. Lee, Jerry Lewis, Amelia Earhart, Charlie Chaplin, Vince Lombardi, Alice Paul, Georgia O’Keefe, Thaddeus Stevens, Coach Bill Snyder and coach Bill Self! – among others. There is no charge to attend – stay for a bit or for the whole morning. The awards ceremony is at 11:45 a.m.” We will have more pictures available here later today.
